Hello, and welcome to Artistic Woodburning. Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Garland and I have been woodburning for sometime now.
My first woodburning set was a Christmas gift back in the early 70’s. The set was very basic, containing a fixed temperature pen, 4 tips, 5 pieces of balsa wood with a printed design on each one, basic set of primary water colors and brush to add color to the design after it was done.
Since then woodburners have gone from a fixed heat pen, to state of the art variable heat pens with an array of interchangeable tips used for different shading effects and textures.
Don’t get me wrong, I still use the fixed heat but, mostly the variable heat so that I am able to control the amount of heat needed to obtain the look and texture I want.
If you are new to the Art of Pyrography, my goal is to walk you through the basics and hopefully into the advanced stages of woodburning, assist you in choosing a woodburner to fit your budget, and point you in the right direction for books and supplies you may need or be interested in purchasing in the future.
With that being said, LETS GET STARTED !
